Hi everyone, Cathy here. I hope you are well. Today I’m sharing some Valentine gift bags made using the New Tartan papers.
These bags first made an appearance on Julie’s Christmas Eve shows. I wanted to see if it was possible to make a gift bag with 8×8 papers and so came up with this design. They are a perfect size for a few special chocolates or some even more special jewellery.
To make a bag:
1. Cut your chosen paper to 13cm long (keep the width the same). This sheet is from the Contemporary Tartan pad.
2. With the paper held portrait, score a line at 3cm. Turn the paper to landscape, score lines all the way down at 6.5, 9.5, 16 and 19.5cm. Score lines at 8 and 17.5cm, but this time only as far down as the score line you made previously. Cut the flaps as shown:
3. Fold the bag together, sticking the sides together with tape or glue on the thin flap, sticking it to the inside of the bag. Fold up the flaps at the bottom and stick.
4. Decorate the bag however you would like. For this one I put holes into the paper before I stuck the bag together and threaded a ribbon through. I then added a sentiment and decorated the bag with hearts.
I made a second bag from the New Traditional Tartan pad. For this one, I cut a heart aperture prior to making up the bag and places acetate behind it. I sealed the top of this bag and simply added a bow.
Finally, I decided to make a matching CAS Valentine card. I simply cut a piece of white card slightly smaller than an A6 card blank. I cut 3 hearts vertically, then placed tartan paper behind the apertures. I added this panel to a card blank with foam pads.
It’s 3 weeks until Valentine’s Day so I look forward to seeing all your Valentine makes soon.
