March Calendar Project

Morning everyone

Really sorry this is a little late – been a little bit busy!

Anyway I wanted to share some step by step photographs of my “Inspire” Canvass that I created for my Calendar project using the gorgeous Shabby Chic collection.

This is a list of materials that I used:

Shabby Chic Collection, Vintage Postcards, Letter tiles – white, Chipboard letters – inspire, Stamp It II Alphabet Stamps

Acrylic Block, Ink Pad – soft pink

Canvass 30cm x 30cm, Heart shape paper mache box lid, Acrylic Paint – soft pink

Wink of Stella sparkle pen, Liquid Pearls – Ballerina, White, Glitter Glue – Stardust

Some embellishments from my crafty stash: ribbon, twine, charms, wooden flowers and butterfly, hat pins, sequins and gems

So this is how I put it all together:

Cut 4 squares of pattern paper, each measuring 14.5cm square and glue to front of canvass.  I laid things out until I was happy with the composition. I moved the top right postcard to the bottom left so it balanced the canvass and looked better.

Decorate each paper square starting top left: curl and shape the postcard and attach using foam pads. Stamp “dream” onto letter tiles using pink ink pad and edge with sparkle pen.  Ink around the edges of all the tiles and attach to postcard with foam pads.

Top right: Cut into die cut circle topper, using a craft knife around roses and slot in sentiment.  Ink around the edge of circle topper and glue in place.

Bottom left: Attach a ribbon bow to metal embellishment and adhere with foam pads.  Ink around edge of sentiment, curling the tails of banner and attach with foam pads.

Bottom right paper square: Cut top of die cut circle topper, using a craft knife around the leaves and slot a vintage postcard underneath.  Attach to canvass using foam pads. Stamp “create” using pink ink pad onto the letter tiles.  Ink around the edges of all the letter tiles and attach with foam pads, randomly across the postcard front.

Paint inside and around edge of heart shaped box lid using pink acrylic paint, leave to dry and apply a second coat.  When dry draw around outside of lid onto pattern paper, cut out inside the pencil line so it fits inside the lid, glue in place.  Attach heart shaped lid to centre of canvass using foam pads.

Cover “inspire” chipboard letters with pattern paper, trim to size and ink around the edges of each letter.  Attach across centre of heart using foam pads, adhere the “r” to the lid of the box using glue and add the “e” outside of the lid to balance your project.

Cut out one of the frame designs from the pattern papers, attach a sentiment with ribbon to the top add 2 hat pins with a curled, shaped and layered flower on the top.  Attach to the top left area of the heart lid.

Curl and shape and layer together lots of different flowers, I used 24 to cover the lip of the heart shaped box. Add Candi to the centres, gems or wooden flowers – infact anything you might have in your crafty stash!

Now to have fun and add some embellishments such as sequins around “inspire” with little pearls added inside.  Add twine to the charms and glue in place.

Tie a bow with white organza ribbon, tie a second one and then using the ribbon tie these two together and finish by tying a third bow and attach to the centre top of the canvass.

Highlight the papers, letters, postcards and sentiments with dots of liquid pearls or glitter glue and leave flat to dry.

Some close ups to see the details….

Hope this inspires you to have a go at a canvass, maybe using a collection from Craftwork Cards that you already own.
