October in Vogue

Hi everyone, Cathy here. Today I’m sharing the project I made for the October page of the Craftwork Cards Calendar- my decorated hat boxes using the Vogue Paper Pad.

For this project I bought a set of 3 papier mache boxes. However you can find templates online if you want to make your own. I covered the sides and top of the boxes with different papers, inking the edges slightly for definition. I used the box lids as a template for cutting paper for the lids.

I made sure the top of the smallest lid had this beautiful peacock on it:

When all the boxes were covered I used some strong glue to stick the lids down and then to stick the boxes together. I left this to dry overnight, whilst I die cut flowers and leaves. I added Liquid Pearls to the flowers before adding my die cuts as a cascade from the top of the boxes downwards. I finished off with some peacock feathers.

I was quite daunted when I was first asked to make a large, show-stopping project but really enjoyed making it and hope you will try something similar. I think the Deco and Decadence collections would work perfectly for a project like this.

Happy Crafting
